Our lives were changed! I will never forget the moment I met him. In the locker room of Mississippi Memorial Stadium in Jackson, MS. He walked from one person to the next greeting them until he reached me. I was a young (twenty-five year old) staff member of Youth for Christ and I had been asked to help with the youth portion of the Crusade. I would be sitting on the platform with all of the program personal for the special focus of young people. Dr. Graham was to sit on my left near the podium. I remember the feeling of awe as he reached our his hand to shake mine. He called me by name and I had no idea he knew who I was. Humbled and overwhelmed I thanked Dr. Graham for his contribution to the Kingdom of God. I felt like I was in the presence of Jesus! That week was special for another reason. It was the week that I met my soulmate Cathy. We attended the crusade every day together and fell in love with each other. Six months later Cathy and I took our vows in the presence of God, family and friends. One of the pastors wrote Dr. Graham and let him know of our marriage and the backdrop of the crusade. In a few weeks this photograph (above) arrived at our home from Dr. Graham. He gave his greetings and congratulations. He said live for Christ! Hearing his passing this week brings many memories to my heart. Meeting his daughters, their children on mission trips to the Dominican Republic. Having a Fireside Chat at the Cove with Ann Graham Lotz. Sitting at a table with Cliff Barrows and hearing stories of the astonishing events surrounding the early years of the ministry. Truly he was anointed by God! Cathy and I are deeply thankful for the pioneer path Dr. Graham made around the world and in our hearts. Cathy and Danny Sartin www.deeperstillmissions.com
