From the Field: I took this picture as I entered Ground Zero at the World Trade Center back in 2001. I will never forget the smell, feel and atmosphere of the pile. This building showed the gaping hole in the front wall as debris fell from the twin towers. Working as a chaplain in the recovery of remains left an impression on my heart that will follow me throughout my life. This was an event that people all around the world saw on television and remember even today. We go nowhere in the world that people cannot comment on this moment in time. Today I am walking in another "Ground Zero" on the other side of the world. I am not able to give you specifics, names, or places because of the spiritual battle that is going on. But the Lord is walking with me during this time. I wanted to ask you to pray as this week begins that I will faithfully represent our Lord and be the servant that He desires that all of us will be. I feel the same way as I did in 2001. I knew that where I walked in New York was a pivotal place and moment in history. Buildings were shattered along with lives, minds and hearts. I am sure that you can understand the necessity for confidentiality. Please pray for God's guidance, wisdom and courage as I walk among the lives of so many who are directly in the heat of battle. Thank you. Danny Sartin

Report from the Field: Area One Camps Windermere Camp, MissouriI I was driving out of the camp late one afternoon to take a short break from the schedule with staff, students and youth leaders. I slowly came around a corner and a mother raccoon and three babies stood in the isolated road. I stopped and let them cross the road while the mother arched her back and made sure my approach would come no further. The three young ones slowly ambled to the grass and I smiled as they strolled into the woods. I regrettably thought, I have no camera with me! So I found a photo that reminded me of the moment and the six bandit covered eyes looking at this intruder in his enormous vehicle. It was unlike any animal they had seen. I think we feel exactly the same when we come in the proximity of God the Father. We are mischievous little rascals who don't understand all that God is doing in our hearts, minds and souls. His ways are not our ways and we often find ourselves confused, mystified and afraid. Two weeks of camp were punctuated with in depth discussions, hard issues in life, worship of our Lord and moments where He revealed himself in a fresh and powerful way. The eyes of hundreds of young people looked just like those raccoons. Wide eyes opened and awe that cannot be described or contained with mere words. We find it such a joy to open God's Word for youth leaders and counselors. The moment a new thought strikes their heart you can see their body relax with the knowledge and contentment only God provides. We pray that you enjoy the pleasure of His presence and the peace that comes from knowing Him intimately. May that be true for you today! A Kingdom Leader always makes time to find solitude and seek guidance from the heavenly Father. He understands the need to find privacy in the midst of his busy schedules. No matter how many people are clamoring for his attention he makes time for the most important appointment. Prayer time alone with God. Did you spend time in prayer this morning? When was the last time you found a solitary place? Have you ever left the house to find one? Are your prayer habits prompted by difficult circumstances or crisis events? Consider making individual and private prayer a high priority in your activities.
We pray that you can find a safe place to share your concerns, needs, dreams and desires with our heavenly father. That is where your priorities are established.
